KUSADASI
 Experiencing a boom in interest from overseas property buyers, Kusadasi is very popular resort with a large yacht marina. It has much of what you would expect in a thriving tourist town: good bars, restaurants and shops, and a couple of beaches suitable for bathing and watersports. Busy in the summer, and with a great variety of places to stay, it takes its name, meaning ‘Bird Island’, from a small island connected to the mainland.
 Also within striking distance of Kusadasi are two real specialities. Ephesus, known as the best-preserved classical city in the Eastern Mediterranean, is a major tourist destination and one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Historically the centre for the cults of Artemis under the Ionians, and Diana under the Romans, it boasts a magnificent theatre which in modern times has hosted top international performers as part of the Ephesus Festival and the International Izmir Festival.
30km South, Dilek National Park. is a break from the bustle. Here you can swim in peaceful coves and enjoy anything from a brief stroll to an afternoon’s trekking through the park’s splendid pine forest.
Tourism:
The main tourist season runs from April to October. The resident population of 50,000 swells to half a million during peak season.
Transport:
 Kusadasi is a one-hour-drive from Izmir international airport, which is served by scheduled flights from the UK. A bus from the airport goes direct to Kusadasi. Its location is further improved by the summer ferry crossings to the Greek island of Samos. Frequent minibuses allow summer visitors to explore the surrounding coastal areas.
Facilities/Amenities:
Kusadasi has hotels, a private hospital, three large aquaparks, a marina, markets, pubs and clubs, a busy harbour and a bustling promenade. An 18th century caravanserai (large inn) which is now a hotel hosting Turkish nights; unisex hamams (pricey).
