Calis Turkey - property and information
Situated
five kilometres north of Fethiye on
the Turquiose Coast, Calis is a town which has grown up around
its beach and the resultant tourist industry. Famous for its sunsets,
it is popular with British, Dutch and German visitors.
Its property market is flourishing, many of the buyers are regular holiday visitors who have taken the plunge into the market. Prices start at around £60,000 for a one-bedroom apartment; a typical two-bedroom new-build apartment on a scheme with a communal pool goes for around £70,000, and you could pay anything between £80,000 to £300,000 for detached houses and villas.
Calis
is a quieter resort than some of its neighbours and is popular
with older visitors and families. It has a string of restaurants
and bars along its pedestrianised beachfront promenade. The beach
is about two kilometres long and has views towards a series of
islets in the bay. For most of the summer season there is a constant
cooling breeze here, and nature lovers can observe sea turtles
who lay their eggs on parts of the beach.
Tourism
In common with the rest of this coast, the main season runs from April till October, with July and August the busiest months. Total rentals of 20 to 30 weeks per year can be expected.
Transport
Calis is 50 kilometres east of Dalaman airport. You can fly here from most major UK airports, either by charter or scheduled service from the likes of BA, Turkish Airways, Excel Airlines and Avro. There is no public transport from the airport so the journey to Calis will have to be made by taxi or car hire.
